The Hefyd Podcast is coming back! I’m looking for people who are learning (or have learnt) Welsh as adults, to a good level, to take part. Have you got an interesting tale to tell about learning Cymraeg? Check out the details below…

What is Podlediad Hefyd?
I started Podlediad Hefyd in 2021. Having learnt Welsh myself, I felt there was an opportunity to share the stories about new Cymraeg speakers like myself, to build confidence, inspire other learners and create some great content for anyone who understands the language (and let’s face it, we need more independently produced audio in Welsh).
So, over the course of two years, I spoke to over 20 people from various backgrounds – new Welsh speakers from Brazil, the USA, Canada, Malta, England, Germany, Ireland…and Wales of course! It was great to discover how and why they started learning, find out the secrets of their fluency, the challenges they’ve faced, and how they use Cymraeg in their daily lives.
By 2023, I felt I needed a break. Producing a podcast takes quite a bit of time and energy. But I knew I’d be likely to return to Hefyd one day.
What’s happening next
As I write this, it’s September 2024. While I haven’t published an episode for a year and a half, I’m still seeing hundreds of downloads of the old episodes every month. It feels like the demand is still there, and I feel ready to start again.
But I am going to do things differently this time. Rather than trying to publish a new episode every month for ever, I’m going to put together a series of 6 new episodes, and then release them. This will make it easier to fit in the work around other things and it should mean a better, more sustainable experience for listeners and guests. If the next series is a success, I’ll probably do another one.
So – the plan is to put together 6 episodes during autumn 2024, and publish them in early 2025. And that’s where you come in…
Take part!
Fancy being considered to be a guest in the new series? I’m looking for:
- Adults (18+) who have learnt Welsh as adults
- Pretty fluent in Cymraeg, but you don’t need to be perfect. The test is whether you can hold a decent conversation for around 20 minutes.
- People with an interesting learning story or background. What makes you different?
- New Welsh speakers who use the language regularly – we want to talk about using the language as well as learning
- Folk who are happy to share their stories publicly, on the podcast and online/in the media etc
If this is of interest, drop me a brief email with information about how and why you’ve learnt Welsh.
I’ll arrange a planning call before we record anything, and your data will be handled in accordance with my privacy policy.
Email: helo@richardnosworthy.cymru by 30/9/2024 for a chance to take part.
